The Nevada Athletic Commission has determined that MMA fighter Jeff Molina placed significant bets on a UFC fight in November 2022 using inside information about an undisclosed injury of another fighter in his camp. Both individuals had the same trainer, James Krause, who received a suspension as well.

The hearing on Tuesday learned the details about the bout between Darrick Minner and Shayilan Nuerdanbieke, with the former having a pre-fight knee injury. Minner didn’t disclose it to officials, resulting in a suspension when this came to light after his TKO just 67 seconds into the first round.

operators noticed suspicious betting patterns in the lead-up to the fight

Sportsbook operators noticed suspicious betting patterns in the lead-up to the fight, with heavy action opposing Minner and the fight lasting less than 2.5 rounds.

Molina placed wagers and admitted to breaching the rules when suspended initially in January 2023. He’s currently serving a retroactive three-year ban, which will expire in November.

The UFC released Minner, who had a 2-4 record in the organization, shortly after the fight when details emerged about the incident. It also told other fighters not to work with Krause or face a similar fate. Subsequent investigations found that the trainer worked as an offshore sports betting racket agent.
