South Carolina Man Murders Person Who Stole His Winning Lottery Ticket

Police in South Carolina arrested a man for murder after he allegedly tracked down the person who stole his winning lottery ticket and fatally shot them.

Law enforcement was made aware of a dispute in an area of Richland County. Upon arriving at the scene, they heard a gunshot and saw Paul Williams leaving the backyard of a residence holding a firearm.

The 70-year-old is now facing charges of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, possession of a firearm by someone with a violent offense conviction, and murder.

67-year-old Matthew Fleming, who police officers found in the backyard with a gunshot wound in his upper body, died after being taken to a nearby hospital. It is unclear how much the lottery ticket was worth.
