The rumor mill is still turning in Las Vegas regarding impending layoffs at MGM properties. It was reported in March that the Excalibur Hotel and Casino would lay off some workers and cut housekeeper hours. Now it seems the housekeepers are losing their jobs too.
losing their stations and full-time status.”
As reported by local news source Vital Vegas, an Excalibur employee has claimed the casino-hotel is laying off full-time housekeepers with less seniority “effective June 9, 2025.” The supposed staff member said they are “losing their stations and full-time status.”
The layoffs add to the initial cuts made to valets, bell desk staff, and doorpersons at the iconic Las Vegas Strip property last month.
The Excalibur isn’t the only Las Vegas venue struggling. VegasSlotsOnline News reported on Wednesday that Fontainebleau Las Vegas security staff escorted dozens of fired table games dealers outside this week. The workers attended meetings in which they were laid off immediately.
The layoff news comes amid an economic downturn in Las Vegas. Strip casino revenue in the city declined year-on-year for the third straight month in April. Revenue declined around 3% from 2024 to $646.8m after a 5% drop in March and staggering 14% decline in February.
