Quest For The Minotaur Slots

Based on one of the most famous stories from Greek mythology, Quest for the Minotaur is another exceptionally well-executed slot from the team at Octopus Gaming that offers players free spins, prize multipliers and a bonus round that sees them enter the infamous labyrinth itself.

Though perhaps not as visually striking as some of their other titles, Quest for the Minotaur is nevertheless a clean and well-presented game that features all of the chief protagonists from the classic tale, with Minotaur itself depicted in both the highest value and wild symbols.

Simple enough to pick up and play, Quest for the Minotaur is a great slot for beginners to jump straight into, but the presence of a multi-staged bonus round and rewarding free spins feature certainly means that there’s enough depth in the game to entertain even seasoned slot players.

Grab The Bull By The Horns

Featuring 5 reels and 20 fixed paylines, the only aspect of Quest for the Minotaur that players need to configure for themselves is how much to bet, with both the number of coins and coin size being fully adjustable. Players can bet 1-10 coins per line, with their value ranging from $0.01-$0.50, meaning that Quest for the Minotaur can be played for as little as $0.20 or as much as $100 per spin.

Payouts in the game range from 5x your stake per line for three pottery symbols to a 5,000x regular jackpot for matching the wild Minotaur’s shadow symbols on all five reels. Up to 2,300x your line bet can also be won in the bonus feature if you make the right choices throughout, while the free spins feature can award a huge prize multiplier of up to 10x on your total winnings at its maximum level.

As such, it should be fairly obvious that if you’re lucky enough to get a decent run on Quest for the Minotaur, there are some huge winnings up for grabs – and all for a relatively low minimum outlay.

What Lurks In the Shadows

While perhaps not as impressively animated as some of Octopus Gaming’s other titles, Quest for the Minotaur is still a nicely designed slot with a good range of unique symbols, with even the lower value icons depicting Pegasus and other creatures rather than the standard playing card symbols.

The higher value icons, meanwhile, depict four characters from the Greek legend, with King Minos of Crete, Theseus, Lady Ariadna and the Minotaur all appearing in ascending order of value. The wild symbol is the Minotaur’s silhouette complete with glowing red eyes, while the scatter is a ball of thread and the bonus icon is a treasure chest to complete what is a fairly consistent design theme.

In terms of sound, the game is perhaps lacking the same consistency found in its graphics, with most audio effects being something that you’ve probably heard before in another Octopus Gaming slot.

In The Belly Of The Beast

There are two main bonus features in Quest for the Minotaur, one a free spin game that offers bonus multipliers and the other a pick game where players must escape from the Minotaur’s lair. Although the latter feature doesn’t appear often, we had a lot of success in triggering the former.

The free spins feature is activated whenever three or more ball of thread scatter symbols appear anywhere on the gameboard, with 12 free spins always being awarded. The more symbols you match, however, the greater your prize multiplier, with a minimum of 3x and a maximum of 10x up for grabs. This makes the feature pretty generous even at its lowest level and it can be re-triggered.

The Labyrinth Escape bonus round, meanwhile, is far rarer and sees players make three choices to win instant cash prizes. First they must pick a shield to protect them in the Labyrinth, then a tunnel to lead them to the heart of the maze and finally a stone to find the Minotaur’s treasure and make their escape. All choices award a prize and the three are added together at the end of the round.

The Stuff Of Legend

Quest of the Minotaur is another engaging video slot from Octopus Gaming that, although lacking the flair of more recent releases, provides some very solid gameplay and bonus features. Though the Labyrinth Escape feature is the game’s unique draw, it is actually the free spins that provide the bulk of players’ profits – and with this feature coming around often, you really can score some big wins.
