Red White Blue 5 Lines Slot Machine

The final title in Octopus Gaming’s Red White Blue series is one that will certainly be more in line with what modern slot players are used to given it features a more common 5 adjustable paylines.

That means that wins can not only be triggered by matching symbols on the top, middle or bottom rows of Red White Blue 5 Line’s 3 reels, but also for any valid winning combination from top left to bottom right or bottom left to top right as well, with the latter also being the slot’s jackpot line.

While the default 5 paylines can be adjusted by players, Red White Blue 5 Line’s maximum regular jackpot of 6,000x can only be won on the last payline, meaning you’ll want to have them all enabled.

Raise The Banner

Designed to resemble the iconic slot machines of the early 20th century, the 3 reels, payout table and additional rules are all handily located on one main screen in Red White Blue 5 Line, meaning it is an incredibly simple slot to pick up and play that doesn’t require players to seek out extra information.

With no need for a “rules” button, the only clickable aspects of Red White Blue 5 Line that players will need to concern themselves with are the number of active lines and the bet amount – and with players able to risk between $0.01 and $5 per line, the most it will ever cost them is $25 per spin.

For that investment, they can land the aforementioned 6,000x regular jackpot for matching three stars and stripes sevens on the fifth payline, but also regular wins of 1x their line bet for ANY single white seven, 7x their line bet for a combination of three BAR icons and 200x for three blue sevens.

Red, White and Two

While we’re all for simplifying the design aspect of these classic slots, we think it’s fair to say that Red White Blue 5 Lines takes this dumbing-down process a little too far. True, like most classic slots in the Octopus Gaming catalogue, the game features six symbols, but upon closer inspection you realise that only two of these are unique – the rest are just rehashed BAR symbols and lucky sevens.

As alluded to earlier, the stars and stripes seven is Red White Blue 5 Line’s jackpot symbol, but lower value versions of the icon are also present on the 3 reels, with both blue and white sevens also featuring. Similarly, the BAR logo can be found in single, double and triple versions, which really does make Red White Blue 5 Line an uninspiring slot to look at even with its garish background colours.

The sound effects in the game are similarly bland, with only the standard electronic “spinning” noise and the tinkling of winning paylines present in every classic slot interrupting the general monotony.

Seventh Heaven?

One of our biggest criticisms of the Red White Blue series has been that the stars and stripes seven – which as well as being game’s the highest value symbol, also acts as a wild that can be substituted for all other symbols – doesn’t come around often enough and, when it does, often misses active paylines.

While the 5 line edition of the game does nothing to combat the former issue, at least it goes some way to addressing the latter as playing the game with all five paylines enabled does mean that on the rare occasions that a stars and stripes seven does appear, it actually yields tangible rewards.

Nevertheless, in order to benefit from this feature, you really do need to have all paylines active at all times – which makes the adjustable nature of the game a bit pointless – and even then there are no guarantees that the wild seven will complete anything of more value than the three BAR combo.

High Five

While we’re clearly not the biggest fans of the Red White Blue series, if you are going to play one of the titles, make sure that it’s the five line version. This is the only way you stand a realistic chance of capitalising on the presence of a wild symbol and – although you’ll be risking more each spin – the extra outlay is definitely worth it given you’ll also be able to win the game’s maximum jackpot.
