The Emperor's Groove
Getting into the spirit of all things Napoleon and French isn’t that difficult thanks to the imagery and overall design of this matrix - every tile across the 3x5 grid has been Frenchified to ensure you become immersed in the gameplay. Although some areas have clearly been given more aesthetic individuality than others, you’re sure to feel like a fellow revolutionary.
What is more, each of the symbols will become animated when a combo is discovered, with some reels even displaying epic explosions that will transport you to many a battlefield from the peak of Napoleon’s military career.
In total there are 11 icons, one of which is the scatter and the other the bonus, both of which are the man himself, though one is a stone bust and the other a portrait. The images in between are rather diverse and showcase a throne, glittering medals, a jewelled crown, cannons, military attire, France decorated in red, white and blue, and so on.
Although the scatter rewards you money alongside a series of spins capped with a x3 multiplier, it is among the lower value tiles available here, with only the throne deemed as less rewarding, and mainly due to the lack of extras attached to it.
Aside from the bonus symbol which will launch a mini game where the amount you can win soon skyrockets, the hat of Napoleon himself is the highest value image on the board, coming in at 5,000 credits.
Ready for Battle
Slot players, in some ways, can be likened to the soldiers that fought for Napoleon for they were expected to know how to begin, what to do during, and where to go once the war had been won. Granted this is a LOT less dangerous, but their is a regiment to the routine of it all that begs the comparison.
There are 25 paylines, but you can begin with 1 if you wish to start small, though it won’t be nearly as much fun nor as pleasing on your wallet. Merely click the LINES widget and the amount will climb until you are happy with the number being played.
Next you will want to set your coin value, which is essentially your way of determining how much you bet - again there is a range for you to click through, starting at 0.01 and working up to 2.00 credits. Then you select the number of coins you will place on each of your paylines.
It’s simple to organise, but you can always go for the Max Bet option if you can’t be bothered and want to get down to the action in record timing; if you decide to do this your initial stake will be a large 250 credits, so make sure you’ve got it to give.
As with many Portomaso Gaming slots, there are Autoplay and Fast Play settings, which are placed together and can be found when you go to launch the auto feature. Whether you end up using them or not, they’re incredibly handy and efficient when you need to get a quick game or two in.

Overall there isn’t a lot of negative feedback that can be given to this title; Napoleon has some solid if not incredible graphics and ample if not overwhelming prizes, it’s all very standard.
