Wild Sevens Slot
Wild Sevens was one of the most popular live slots from Octopus Gaming. This was a 3 reel slot, and the inclusion of a ‘wild’ symbol which substituted for others to make wins was once a novelty. Times have moved on, and even the updated 5 reel version of the game is retro nowadays. The symbols are old-school fruits and the graphics fairly plain by today’s standards. One thing this slot does maintain is the Octopus Gaming tradition of creating slots which are fast, smooth to play and have the potential for a decent sized pay-out at any time.
There is a surprise in store the first time you press the spin button. You’ll see that the frame of this slot contains pictures of fruit and bells. What you will not expect is that the graphics above the reels will have bouncing fruit when you spin. The background of the reels is plain white, and the fruit symbols themselves are clear and bright. There are bananas, pears, grapes, oranges, plums and cherries. In fact the only non-fruit symbols are the red sevens and the bottle of wine, which is the scatter symbol. Sounds are decidedly retro too, with computerized beeps and warbles that sound like they were inspired by early 3-reel slots.
In addition to the free spins round, there is a random bonus award that can net you up to 480 coins.
Lucky Number 7
There are 15 win-lines for this game, and you can choose how many to play before you spin. You can choose from a wide selection of coin sizes too, starting at just 1c (15c per spin for full lines). $5 per line is possible, making the max spin $45. There is an auto play option, which is simply on or off – you cannot choose how many spins for this.
The biggest single prize is assigned to the banana. 5 of these on a win-line nets you 8000 coins, with 800 for 4, 100 for 3 and 10 for just 2. Next comes the pear at 2000 coins for 5 and the grape for 1000 coins for 5. Prizes go down rapidly for the remaining fruits, though my experience was that these are reasonably frequent.
You will find 3 special symbols. First the red seven, which is wild. This substitutes for all of the regular (fruit) symbols. The bell symbol has a special role, and only appears on the first, third and fifth reel. When you get 3 you are awarded a random bonus of between 32 and 480 coins. Finally the bottle of wine is a scatter symbol. This is not tied to any winning line, and will trigger the free spins bonus feature (and a random bonus) with 3 or more anywhere on the reels. For 5 of a kind you get 20 free spins, 10 for 4 and 5 for just 3.
Wild Sevens Bonus Game
There really is nothing too interesting to report on the free spins bonus round. The reels, sounds and game-play are exactly as they are in the base game. You’ll see a countdown of your remaining spins, and a total of your wins. I am not sure whether this can be retriggered, and it did not happen while I was playing. There is no multiplier for your wins or other special in-reel behaviour.
Go Wild with Wild Sevens
If you enjoyed the old 3 reel version then you will be pleased to find out that the 5 reel Wild Sevens kept the tradition of this game going strong. The fruits, seven that substitutes for other symbols to make wins and potential for a big pay-out are all there. With the 5 reel version you get a lot more win-lines, up to 15 if you choose to play the full quota. The free spins game can add some nice wins (though not too much in the way of different game-play). You’ll also get the occasional random bonus from the bells while you spin.
