Freaky Wild West

Freaky Wild West Slot Machine

Freaky Wild West is (as if it weren’t obvious from the title) another Wild West-themed game from the masterminds at CTXM/GamesOS Software, which at first glance looks to be yet another appealing entry into their “Freaky” series of video slots game. Featuring the Wild West seems to be a favourite of the developer these days, as several of their other “Freaky” games like Freaky Cowboys and Freaky Bandits also utilise the same setting.

Given its similar appearance to some of the other “Freaky” entries, as well as CTXM/GamesOS Software’s track record of making great video slots games, how does this fare measure up against other endeavors?

Keeping Things Freaky

In what fans of the “Freaky” games may recognise as a hallmark of the series, Freaky Wild West boasts a polished, colourful appearance and a stable of wacky, over-the-top caricatures of various characters relevant to the setting. There is a lot going on when you open the game, and several icons not found in some of their other games are present. Most importantly the top-left corner and the character icon next to the spin button seem to be particularly unique. As the functions of these icons are not immediately obvious, it makes you want to play the game and find out. There are some reused designs from the other Wild West-themed “Freaky” games such as Freaky Cowboys and as such the game doesn’t appear to stand out at all, at least initially anyway. But when delving into the gameplay, you are likely to find that the game actually has some really cool features.

As Wild as the Wild West

The menu options are similar to what is found in most video slots games. You have the option of having the game perform auto-spins for you (up to ten at a time), as well as the option to change the number of paylines in play, bet size, coin denomination used (from 0.05 to 5) and an option to bet the maximum amount each time. The menu to the left of the screen allows you to access further options. Up to 30 paylines can be put into play, so there are quite a few opportunities to make a winning spin.

The game’s defining feature is that you can switch between different realms depending on what combination of symbols you get. In total you can be sent to one of three areas, either an Indian Village, Sheriff Town and Bandit’s Valley. Getting a certain combination of symbols in these areas will trigger their bonus games. Of course, one can’t have everything, so the game has no wild symbol. The shaman serves as the scatter symbol of the game. If you receive at least two you will trigger free to play spins, receiving as many as 30 depending on how many shaman symbols you get.

Make Out Like a Bandit

Yes, it’s true, something seldom seen in other “Freaky” games, Freaky Wild West offers a progressive jackpot that can potentially give out as much as 5,000x your initial line bet. Getting this opportunity requires placing a max bet, so you can’t win a jackpot every round if you stick to the minimum pay-in. Just hit five Banker Jackpot symbols on any active payline to win, with the current size of the jackpot is shown at the top of the screen.

Freaky Wild West offers three mini-games to play, accessible by obtaining the prerequisite symbols required to enter each world. The first is Indian’s Gold – it gives you five buckets to choose from, and you have the choice of three. Pick well, and you will earn a prize. The second game is Safe Crackers, which lets you blow up five safes out of a selection of nine with dynamite. The third and final game is reminiscent of the game found in Freaky Cowboys, called Shoot for the Loot. You are given 15 bullets with which to shoot at various bandits that appear on-screen, so the more you shoot, the more you win.

Gun-Slinging Gaming!

Freaky Wild West is one of the most interesting and varied options in the “Freaky” series. The progressive jackpot alone gives you an incentive to bet big, but having the mini-games take place in different settings is a really neat touch, and it really distinguishes the game from the others in the series. With plenty of bonus content, a progressive jackpot, and the potential for free spins all wrapped up into a visually appealing package, this game will appeal to even the most hardcore gambler.
