Olympic Slots

The race for the gold has begun! Sport fans from all over the world will certainly rejoice when they learn that the Olympic Games now also have their own video slot game.

Games OS came up with a simple and fast-paced, sports-themed creation that encompasses many of the disciplines in competition during the worldwide famous event.

So without further ado, let’s (high/long) jump right into the game…

For Gold and for Glory

Being a slot based on the Olympic Games, it should come as no surprise that Olympic Slots is taking place in the middle of a stadium.

You can see the crowded bleachers behind the five reels of the game, as well as a vast expense of perfectly trimmed grass ready to welcome the athletes.

With that being said, there is not actually much more going on in terms of design. No background music, only a simple melody to accompany the reels as they spin. The reels appear within a simple white, rectangular frame. And that is all, no fancy gimmicks there. Moving on…

Warming up Before the Game

There are a total of nine paylines across the five reels of Olympic Slots, which gives it a simple and straightforward setup. You can choose which paylines to activate by directly clicking the colourful number tags on each sides of the reels.

You can bet between 0.50 and 10 coins on each payline. Use the appropriate (+) and (-) buttons below the reels to do so. The Bet Max button will activate all the paylines and send the reels spinning at once, whereas the Autospin feature lets you determine exactly how many bets in a row you want to place.

And once again, that is it. The gameplay is just as minimalistic as the visual atmosphere of the game so far. Which leaves more space for the actual gambling and more time to study the reel symbols.

Always Aim for the Trophy

Olympic Slots get somewhat richer when it comes to the reel symbols. There are ten different basic icons, and all of them are directly inspired by the world of professional sports and athletes. No standard cards like the King or the Ace here, instead every single item stays true to the game universe much like other titles from this developer such as New York Gangs. Much appreciated!

Most symbols are a miniature collection of the gear and equipment related to a particular Olympic sport. We begin with Golf, Boxing and Tennis before reaching a flamboyant illustration of the Olympic Flame. Still going upwards in value, we find Basketball, Football, American Football, Hockey and Baseball.

In the last position in this basic line up is the Bronze Cup, shaped as a single wing resting on a pedestal. A combination of five of them on an active payline pays 1,000 times your initial bet.

The Final Podium

The golden Wild Token is of great importance in Olympic Slots, as it can make the difference between a close call and an epic win! The Token is able to replace any other symbols listed above in order to complete or extend a winning combination.

The Silver Cup acts as the Scatter symbol of the game. It can trigger Free Spins simply by being present anywhere on screen. Four Cups award only three Free Spins, but five of them trigger 30 free rounds! A real game changer.

And finally we reach the Gold Cup, the highest honour an athlete can receive. Three of them on an active payline trigger the Bonus Game. You will be instantaneously taken away from the stadium and brought… to a quiet pond out in the countryside to participate in a fishing mini game. Yes, fishing. You probably did not see that one coming, and yet here you are. You have to go through different steps such as choosing a fishing spot, some bait, your favourite fishing rod and so on. Each choice you make awards cash prized or multipliers, unless you hit a game over sign and are sent back to the stadium with your wins.

For Fans of All Kinds of Sport

Olympic Slots started with the premise of a slot game based on sports and competition. While the symbols and general settings are spot on, one cannot ignore the over simplistic gameplay and the lack of a real interactive experience. It is still a slot game of course, but with only nine paylines and relatively low rewards for most of the symbols, many players will probably consider other options amongst the great online slots available. Which leaves us also with a disconcerting fishing mini game that simple seems out of place. Some gamblers might just love it, but be warned: Olympic Slots might not be exactly what you are expecting!
