Grand 7s Slot
Slot games do not always need to be embellished in any way or included with an original universe. Sometimes, good-old, classic casino features are more than enough.
Such is the case for Grand 7s, a video slot game created by Microgaming that completely does away with any pretence to look or feel like something it is not. You are here to bet on slots, and this is what this game is here to provide. Nothing more, and nothing less.
Read our full review of Grand 7s to get a better idea of how such a simple game can manage to stand out on the slot gaming market - and whether or not you should give it a try.
Classic slot game charm
Grand 7s focuses on the reels and lets them steal the show on the game screen, given the simplicity of the other elements.
The background of the game is a uniform dark blue shade with the game logo printed on it. The reels and paytable occupy the rest of the space, and the command bar is located all the way at the bottom.
Grand 7s clearly relies on simplicity and does not provide players with anything more than the strict minimum in the graphics department. Let’s simply move on to the gameplay and see how we can get the game to work.
Focus on the reels
The gameplay of Grand 7s is simple and quite intuitive. It should not take more than a few minutes even for beginners to get used to it.
The game matrix contains 3 spinning reels and a single payline right in the middle. You can win cash prizes by lining up symbol combinations on that payline. Use the command bar to adjust your wager and choose how many coins you wish to bet on the next spin. You can choose between 1, 2 and 3 coins and adjust the individual coin value with the (+) and (-) buttons. Depending on the number of coins you are betting, a different section of the paytable will light up in order to highlight your potential rewards.
Take a risk and go all-in with one click on the bet max button. Placing the highest bet possible is a guarantee that your potential rewards will also be the highest. Alternatively, click on autospin to put Grand 7s on autopilot and let the reel spins on their own with a bet of your choice.
Collect them all
The paytable of Grand 7s focuses on the value of different combinations, as clearly shown in the paytable on the right-hand side of the screen.
The symbol list itself only contains classic icons such as cherries, bar signs (simple, double and triple) and either blue or red sevens. The higher you go on the list, the greater your rewards can become. As we have mentioned before, the number of coins you bet on each spin also influences which column of the paytable you will be getting paid from.
Grand 7s might not have any sort of special symbols such as wilds and scatters, not to mention dedicated bonus symbols, but there are still a few elements of gameplay that deserved to be examined a little more closely in a new section of our review.
Make the best out of the game
We can start with the lowest-paying symbols of Grand 7s: the cherries. These little red berries can be combined with other symbols to form new, low paying combinations. They can thus in practice act as a sort of wild card. You can combine either two different symbols and a cherry, or two identical symbols and a cherry and land a small cash reward.
Bar symbols can behave in a similar way. You can combine any sort of bar signs freely to win a small prize and get yourself started on the reels.
Finally, the red and blue sevens can also be mixed together for a prize. This reward is of course lower than those triggered by “pure” seven combinations, but it can still amount to 120 times your wager when betting 3 coins. The largest reward of Grand 7s is equal to 2500 times your bet for a triple red seven combinations with 3 coins on the table.
Classic fun, but nothing more
Grand 7s is a game designed for hard-core fans of retro slot games who would rather enjoy a pure casino atmosphere than bother with complicated graphics and backstories.
If that sounds like you, then Grand 7s should fit you like a glove. Otherwise, you might find the game a little repetitive.
