Cabaret Slots
Stoke up all of the excitement and glamour of the good old cabaret with this all-new pay monster of a video slot from the SGS Universal team. Fittingly and simply entitled ‘Cabaret’, this slot affords players the very real and very quantifiable chance to dip into a time, location and state of mind when cabaret ruled the roost as the number one evening entertainment option of the up and coming.
Though still a very active format of entertainment, cabaret tends to be set against more of a retro backdrop nowadays. Sitting somewhere between burlesque and a night at the theatre on the scale of cultural weekend endeavours, cabaret still provides a great deal of joy to a large number of people. Offering a whole host of juxtaposing entertainment formats all in one sitting, there’s a lot to love.
This multi-faceted nature is what makes the idea of a cabaret themed slots game so appealing – at least on paper. Just how well the premise translates in reality however is wholly subject to the powers of the developer. Given the track record of SGS Universal, we went into this experience fairly confident that the team there would deliver…
A Classic Theme
From the get go, it’s very easy to see which era the developers have decided to shoot for when creating this game. By aiming for the roaring 1920s – the archetypal era for cabaret entertainment in the western world – the SGS Universal team have immediately played a hand that’s pretty hard to ignore, let alone trump.
There’s no man nor woman alive who is partial to a stint on the interactive video slots who wouldn't be totally overcome at the sight of this slot game’s design and appearance. With each of its five reels the slot offers a great and diverse array of symbols; from the usual suspects (being the 10, J, Q, K, A) right through to the illuminated billboard-esque jewellery clad movie stars and the slot’s glamorous logo itself, the game is instantly a veritable feast for the senses!
With such a bulky offering in terms of lights, cameras and actions; there comes a point when reality bites and we realise we must progress onwards into the games underbelly in order to determine the nature of its basic minerals.
On the Reels
Depending on what it is you seek to gain from your time spent playing video slots, you’ll either hold the looks and general base aesthetics of the reels in the highest regard, or the content which acts to populate them. As previously mentioned, this game is host to 5 separate reels all of which play their part in forming up to 20 unique paylines; and whichever way swing you’ll surely be pleased to know that there’s a great deal on offer here for both sides of the divide.
The Cabaret slot features all of the usual symbols, including a particularly valuable scatter which will expand to fill the entirety of whichever reel it appears on in order to form a winning combination. These morphing symbols are far from uncommon among SGS Universal titles and certainly act to provide something a little extra to gamers who are bored with all of the usual in game mechanics.
As far as wager and stake sizes go, players can bet a maximum of one coin (between the value of 1 and 20) per line per spin. With coin denominations ranging between 0.01 and 5.00, this makes for a max bet of 100.00 – not too shabby all things considered.
In Hindsight
We rarely end reviews with the words ‘in hindsight’, though feel that in this instance it may be needed. To state that Cabaret is an ineffective or unenjoyable game not worth employing to pass some idol hours would be emphatically false. This being said, there’s still a large part of this reviewer who wishes that the theme had been elaborated upon a little bit more than it has been.
All in all, Cabaret is an inclusive and wildly accessible video slot game with a decent theme and some really good chances for cashing out solid winnings.
