Slingo Shuffle Roulette

What, pray, is Slingo Shuffle Roulette? It’s clearly a roulette-based casino game, that much is certain. Beyond that, understanding this game calls for gaining an understanding of exactly who the developer of this game are. They’re called Slingo Originals and they specialise in creating casino games that merge elements of slots and bingo. That might seem pretty niche, but it’s a niche that they’re counting on taking off. They’ve got some design skills too it should be noted. When the game loads, there’s an intro screen which provides some playing tips but it actually loads too fast for you to read it, which is annoying.

On a brighter note, the colours in this game are nice and so’s the typography. There’s a lot to like about this game in fact, but it’s got some downsides too. The fact that Slingo Shuffle Roulette won’t load in the Chrome browser because it’s been designed in Flash is frustrating. As a result, you’ll have to work it in something like Firefox. It also means this isn’t a mobile-compatible game.

Roulette Just Got Real

When the game loads you’ll find yourself confronted with a board showing a series of playing card symbols and numbers arranged on red and black rows. To the left of the board is an impish looking devil. This green section is marked DEVIL FIRST CARD and above the board, playing instructions tell you to “Hit your selections before the devil to win”. There was nothing in the name of this game to suggest that the devil himself would be making an appearance. What’s going on here?

Below the board, a series of poker chips cycles round when you click on them. Click on the chip you wish to place and then click on a spot on the board where you wish to place it. If you’ve wagered on roulette before, you’ll be familiar with the concept at play here. Chips range from 0.1 all the way up to 100 coins in value. There’s a maximum stake for each bet, so you can’t go wild and cover the entire table in chips. Once you’ve set your bet, click deal and you’ll be taken through to a second screen where cards are shuffled about.

The Devil’s Luck

On the second screen, a range of cards are automatically dealt and continue to be dealt until the devil card shows up, whereupon it’s game over. When that’s occurred twice, you’ll be taken back to the main roulette board where you can place your bets all over again. These can be placed on a single colour – black or red – or on specific numbers or groupings of four numbers. At this stage in proceedings, things are chilled out and laid back. The moment you’ve placed your bet and hit Deal however, the game quickly speeds up. There’s actually a turbo button, but you probably don’t need it – this game moves fast enough as it is.

One thing that Slingo Originals do well is playing guides, and you’ll need one to get the hang of Slingo Shuffle Roulette. A well designed guide shows how you need to place your bet using the chip and then wait to see the cards being dealt. What you’re looking for here is for the cards to be dealt and your selections to show up before the devil shows up. If you find a split card showing the cherub and the devil, you’ll be offered a second chance. Here you need to select one of nine cherub cards in the pack to continue; a selection of cards will be placed face down and you need to pray that you pick out a cherub and not a devil. A 34-card deck is used for each game containing 7-A of each suit plus one devil and one dual devil/cherub.

Slingo Shuffle Roulette Summary

Slingo Shuffle Roulette by Slingo Originals is certainly an interesting one. It’s a game that you’re unlikely to have encountered before, in any incarnation from any developer. The format can take a little getting used to at first, regardless of how well it’s been put together, but thankfully the playing guide clears things up. It’s hard to tell who this game’s marketed at, is it’s not quite roulette and it’s not quite cards either. Purists of both disciplines may object to the way they’ve been mashed up here, but casual gamblers should like what’s on offer. Slingo Shuffle Roulette is a game that springs a few surprises and is arguably one of the best things that Slingo Originals have released to date.
