Dragons Mystery Slots
Dragons Mystery is a 5-reel, 10-line video slot from the Stakelogic software developer. The well-designed casino game is not your average, run of the mill slot, featuring as it does both expanding wilds and multipliers that increase with each successive spin, boosting your pay-out by up to 16x.
The highly animated and adventurous dragon-themed slot is available to play at a range of online casinos, whether your device of choice is a laptop, a PC, a tablet or a mobile device. One thing worth noting: win lines pay in both directions, from left to right as well as right to left. Let’s take a closer look.
An Epic Backdrop
The setting for this slot is a Lord of the Rings-esque hillside, in the dark of the night. Pools of golden coins litter the ground, and the tail of a dragon can be spied coiled off to the right; the dragon’s head blinks at you from the far left of the screen, and a sword has been knifed into the ground below its chin.
To start playing, simply click the Spin or Auto Play buttons. Auto Play comes to an end whenever you hit a win, after which it must be recommissioned. You can hit Bet Max to play at the maximum allowable bet or use the + and - buttons to customise your wager. The betting range goes from 0.10 to 50 credits per spin. If you wish to tweak the audio, you can mute either the game sounds, the background music or all audio. The music, in our view, enhances the gameplay – the audio effects of thunder rumbling and dark music certainly add an extra dimension to the slot.
The return-to-player percentage, in case you’re wondering, is a pleasing 96.1%. Pretty generous, all told.
Mystery’s Features
The aim, of course, is to find matching combinations of three, four or five symbols. Some slots offer sums for combinations of two matching icons, but Dragons Mystery isn’t one of them. There are nine symbols in the game, most of them being dragon eyes – a narrow slit surrounded by scaly skin. There’s a purple dragon, a green dragon, a brown dragon and a blue dragon. Further icons include four dragon faces. The symbols are somewhat comical and cartoonish, although plenty of detail has gone into the scaly skin.
The orange dragon is the most rewarding symbol in the base game. If you’re lucky enough to hit three, four or five on one of the 10 paylines, you’ll be rewarded with cash sums of 50, 200 or 200 coins. The blue dragon, for its part, pays 25 for three, 60 for four and 120 for five. The purple dragon pays 10, 25 and 60 and the green dragon pays 8, 20 and 50.
Dragons Mystery features expanding wild symbols which, as well as being able to stand in for other icons, award free spins. Whenever a wild lands, it will expand to cover the entire reel. The wild reel will freeze after the expansion, and a free spin is triggered on the other reels. The wild symbols occupy reels two, three and four and can replace all others in the game. They look like golden coins, embellished with the face of a roaring dragon.
Beside the reels, you’ll notice a series of boxes, which relate to multiplier prizes that can enhance your pay-outs. All you need to do is land winning combos on consecutive spins. The first win is set at x1, although it rises to x2 with a follow-up win. A third win sees your pay-out quadrupled, while a fourth win gives you an x8 leg-up. Should you manage to hit five wins on the trot, you’ll be given a pay-out which has been multiplied 16 times. Not too bad, but also – it must be said – rather unlikely.
Solid Dragon
Dragons Mystery certainly isn’t bursting with features, but don’t be disheartened. The pay-table, on the whole, is quite generous. And though you might endure lengthy spells when the wins are thin on the ground, a hot streak can prove very profitable very quickly. We’d have liked to have seen more than one free spin offered – five or ten would have been nice – and a scatter symbol would also have been welcome, but over all, Dragons Mystery is a solid slot – one worth checking out.
