It’s Snack Time
Chocolate bars, jelly babies, crispy biscuits, blackberry muffins, jelly beans, moreish cakes with whipped-cream and mouthwatering lollipops… Just some of the delights you can expect in the Sugarush slot. The sugary treats are in such good supply that you’ll probably want to avoid the slot if you’re on a diet!
The symbols positively sparkle on the reels, with the confectionary appearing in all shapes, sizes and colours. There’s a feel-good vibe to the slot which shouldn’t be underestimated. Behind the reels, you’ll notice shelves heaving with tubs of sweets; there’s also a coin-operated gumball machine. Willie Wonka eat your heart out, in other words.
As ever, the aim is to find matching combinations of three, four or five symbols. Manage this and you’ll win cash pay-outs. All symbols pay left to right, except for the scatter, which pays in any configuration. The coin bets available are 0.01, 0.01, 0.05, 0.10, 0.20, 0.50, 1 and 2 credits for each of the 15 lines. You can also play on one, three, five, 10 or 15 lines, should you wish. Remember, the higher your bet-per-line, and the more lines you play, the higher the pay-outs will be. With that said, it’s never recommendable to play beyond your limits.
Sweet Treats
Like a great many WorldMatch slots, Sugarush features 11 symbols, with two of them acting as special icons. Some WM slots go for three special features: a bonus game, a wild symbol and a scatter; in Sugarush, though, the bonus game has been forfeited. This has been mitigated somewhat by the nature of the free spins icon, which grants solid pay-outs as well as engendering free spins. For example, you’ll win 10 for two, 50 for three, 100 for four and 500 for five. Three or more also triggers ten free spins, during which all wins are tripled.
The wild symbol, meanwhile, is represented by a pile of jelly beans. This one can replace all others with the exception of the free spins icon. It doesn’t offer pay-outs, though.
As for the regular symbols, they offer some pretty nice wins in their own right. The Sugarush logo, for instance, pays 20 credits for three, 200 for four and 1,000 for five in a line. The alluring, purple-haired female pays 20, 150 and 750, while the chocolate balls pay 20, 75 and 350. The least rewarding icon is the jelly babies: three pays five, four pays 15 and five pays just 50.
Spin and Stop
One cool feature in Sugarush is the Stop Spin feature. When the reels are in motion, you can bring them to a halt at any time by clicking the stop button in the control panel. If you know anything about slots, you’ll know how difficult it is to time the reels just right and hit a win; you also need unbelievable hand-eye coordination. But hey, that’s on you!
Head Rush or Headache?
Sugarush is a nice enough video slot, but let’s be honest, it’s not going to blow anyone’s mind. Gamers will appreciate the wide betting range and the configurable nature of the paylines, and the multipliers during free spins are nice, but we’d have liked to have seen a bonus game or maybe some quirkier animations. The 1,000 credit jackpot is also fairly low given many WM slots have a 7,500 jackpot. All in all, swings and roundabouts.
