Who of us hasn’t looked outside the window and thought how awesome it would be to get in a classic car and head for some open roads, with the stereo on full blast and the speed at top gear? So does this Reel Wheels game capture the thrill of cruising or is it stuck in reverse gear?
CARazy Cool Layout
Arguably the best aspect about this game is the design. It really does grab you full throttle. It has the American flag at an angle so you only see some of the stars and part of the red and white stripes. There is also a black and white vintage sports car next to the game. It certainly wouldn’t have the same vibe with a caravan!
The tilting aspect really works well with the background. The game may be the center of the foreground but there is significant background space to see more of the front of the car, including the headlights and sleek design.
All the buttons needed to play are at the bottom, the paylines and paytable are clearly evident and all the details about Balance, Total bet and Total Win are neatly placed on the right. This car has style. The pay lines are clearly marked, with extra detail on the specific page.
Wheely Bad Sound but Good Icons
You can play for any lines between 1 and 21 and up to 5 bets, which are super easy to change. If you want to go at top speed you should head straight to the Bet Max button which is worth a bet of 105.00. There isn’t too much flexibility in terms of the Auto play. You can only have 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25 spins. It is worth noting that if you do decide to drive automatic, the bonus games are also done for you.
For a game that has a stereo as one of its icons, it’s not the best music you’ll hear. The initial quick tempo soon passes, with a relaxing elevator style music then taking over. Each icon has its individual sound effects, though they are largely uninspired and irritating. It’s very easy to mute it.
The pay table keeps up the style. It’s the same background but as the foreground is different it doesn’t feel identical. It’s also been well organised. The very basic rules are described in the middle, with the order of the credit points on either side and bonuses at the bottom. The top-ranking symbol, the sports car, is worth 3,000 credits. Next in line is the steering wheel worth less than a third of that with 800 credits. The key, stereo, fuel line, car jack and gearshift are the other symbols. The One Way sign that features on the main page is not explained.
Bonuses Are Reely Lacking
As well as the lack of high credit prizes, where the game really does fall down is in its bonuses. It starts off positively as the three bonus symbols are well chosen. The traffic light is the Wildcard, which substitutes for everything except the Bonus and Scatter. As there are no credit points for getting 2 of a kind, the Wildcard is especially useful. It would have been a nice touch for the picture to have had a green light mind. No one likes the idea of being stuck in traffic.
The Bonus is a petrol station tank. If you get 3 or more you get an extra game. There are 3 petrol pumps and you have to choose one to refuel your car, with added sound effects of the car stopping and being refueled. What is interesting is that you can get up to 3 bonus games on one spin. It is a shame there is no second level of bonuses as the petrol game does get tiring very soon, especially as the prices aren’t high. It is a lot easier to get that bonus than the Scatter symbol represented by a large wheel. Good luck getting a chance to play it as it seems near impossible to obtain.
Flat Wheel
Despite its great design and well-chosen symbols, this is a very limited game. With the credit wins being so low, there needed to be something extra to make it stand out.
With the game play being so flat and bonuses either underdeveloped or highly difficult to obtain, there is a lot to be frustrated by. Sadly, rather than speed off into the distance, this game has been left choking in dust.
