Secrets of Poseidon Slots
Secrets of Poseidon is a video slot based on the exploits of the mythical figure of Poseidon, master of the seas. The slick title, developed by the famous WorldMatch platform, boasts 5 reels and 25 unfixed paylines.
Although the slot is extremely easy to learn, its features are numerous, with free spins and multiplied prizes up for grabs. The graphics are also exemplary, and a wide betting range lets gamers play from 0.01 to 1 credit per payline.
Are you ready to brave the depths, to enter the murky domain of Poseidon in your mission to claim 7,500x your line bet? First things first: read this review, get acquainted with the game, then go spin the reels to your heart’s delight.
Take Controls
As with most WorldMatch titles, the control panel is located along the bottom of the screen. This is where you can set the number of lines (you can play on 1, 5, 10, 15 or 25), determine the bet level or quickly select Max Bet to play at 25 credits per spin. There’s also an Autoplay button, which enables up to 1,000 automatic spins. In the corner, you can click into the paytable by placing your cursor on the ‘i’ button.
You can also click into the gearwheel, which lets you mute the music. We would advise against this, as the audio enhances the overall gameplay. The audio tracks of some slot games make you want to throttle the developer, but that’s not the case here: we can hear the serene sound of life of underwater, which is kinda difficult to put into words. There are little jingles when you hit a win, too.
Fine Graphics, Great Gameplay
Secrets of Poseidon is played on a traditional 5x3 reel grid, designed to resemble a Grecian temple which has sunk to the seabed. Two mighty stone columns flank the reels, with a pediment situated above bearing the title of the game. Schools of fish float by in the background, bubbles rise to the surface and weeds sprout from the sand underneath. The graphics, it’s safe to say, are excellent, conveying the impression of a fallen empire.
There are a dozen symbols in Secrets of Poseidon, each of which is typified by the same terrific graphics as forms the backdrop. The icons include a treasure chest, a Grecian silver coin, a stone statue of Poseidon with his trident, a golden harp, a skeletal hand clutching a red ruby, a seahorse, a dusty tome on a table, a Parthenon-like temple and what looks like a golden pocket watch. There’s also a free spins icon, represented by a pyramid, and a bonus icon, represented by a closed clam shell.
The objective, as ever, is to find matching combinations of three, four or five symbols to trigger a win. The most rewarding symbol of all is the book. At max bet, this one pays five credits for two, 200 for three, 2,000 for four and the 7,500 jackpot for five. The book also acts as wild, which means it can stand in for other symbols to help you form a winning line. It cannot, however, replace the free spins or bonus icons.
Elsewhere, the Parthenon pays 50 for three, 250 for four and 1,000 for five. The pocket watch awards 20 for three, 100 for four and 500 for five.
Bonus Features
Three or more of the free spins icons buys you a round of free spins. How many you receive is pot luck, though: you’ll need to click on the symbols, after they line up, to win a random number. It’s possible to win zero free spins, even if you’ve found five of the blighters, although all wins during free spins are multiplied by three.
Landing three or more bonus symbols, meanwhile, opens a new game screen. You must choose one of the shells shown on the ocean floor; the shell you select will reveal a pearl and declare an amount won. Just click on the Game button to return to the base game.
A Secret Worth Keeping?
Secrets of Poseidon, like all other slots, has its pros and cons. In the plus column: great graphics, nice audio, a high RTP (96.57%), well-paying symbols, wilds and free spins. In the minus column: a dull bonus game and a tired theme (there are many slot games about Poseidon). Secrets of Poseidon is worth a few spins, but only you will know if it can hold your attention for longer.
